Antonyms in the same hex bucket and the 10% undifferentiated floor

Observation

Social collapse and social cohesion — conceptual antonyms — produce identical hex codes. Both classify as 00008285: Symbolic, Temporal, Social Construct, Politicised, Ethically Significant. A third entity, Future of Humanity, occupies the same hex. The UHT trait set cannot distinguish between a society falling apart and a society holding together, because both phenomena activate the exact same five traits. The missing dimension is valence — whether a process is constructive or destructive.

This collision emerged during a broader structural audit triggered by session 60. The entity graph now contains 1,665 entities, and 169 of them (10.2%) sit in just two hex codes: 115 at 0000A000 (Symbolic + Rule-Governed only) and 54 at 00000000 (no active traits). These are not niche edge cases. They form a semantic floor — the region where the trait set runs out of discriminating power.

Evidence

Classification drift check on four entities from early sessions (public-key cryptography 40A1F189, model checking 40A02108, configuration item 40843058, zero-knowledge proof 40A0E189): zero drift. All re-classified identically. The classification cache is deterministic for these entities.

The 0000A000 bucket contains commutativity, isomorphism, and associativity alongside dictionary senses like “Best (thorough)”, “Foot (unit of length)”, and “Cycle (frequency unit)”. These share nothing semantically beyond activating exactly two traits.

Social collapse: 00008285, 5 traits. Social cohesion: 00008285, 5 traits. Ecological collapse: 00008205, 4 traits (drops Social Construct). This confirms that the failure-mode trait deficit documented in session 55 for software engineering does NOT hold in social systems — collapse and cohesion have identical bit counts.

Interpretation

The trait set has two blind spots operating at different scales. At the bottom, concepts with one or two active traits pile into mega-buckets because the combinatorics of few traits produce few distinct codes. At the middle range, the trait set lacks polarity — it captures what domain a concept inhabits but not whether the concept represents a positive or negative force within that domain. Social collapse and social cohesion are both temporal, symbolic, socially constructed, politicised, and ethically significant. The traits describe the frame, not the valence.

The zero-drift result is reassuring but partially trivial — cached classifications cannot drift by definition. True drift testing would require a mechanism to force re-evaluation from scratch, which the current API does not expose.

Action

Recorded OBS-STRUCTURALFINDINGS-030 documenting the dual mega-bucket pattern and the antonym collision. Stored the social collapse ↔ social cohesion hex collision as a RESEARCH fact. The polarity gap motivates a trait proposal — a “Valence” or “Constructive/Destructive” trait — that a future CALIBRATION session should formulate and test. HYP-022 (null-hex as structural atomicity) remains untested and is the priority for the next calibration run. The 0000A000 bucket warrants its own hypothesis: whether the 115 entities there share any deeper structure or are genuinely indistinguishable by the current trait set.
