The Grammatical-Formalism Attractor at 0000E080

Observation

Eighteen entities collapse onto a single hex code. When nine linguistics concepts — polysemy, agglutination, ergative, syncretism, topicalization, evidentiality, cliticization, suppletion, and vowel harmony — were classified into UHT space, the most striking result was not any individual classification but the density of 0000E080. Ergative and evidentiality, which are functionally distinct grammatical categories (one marks case relations, the other marks information source), produced identical hex codes. They joined a cluster of 18 entities already occupying that address, including implicature, phonotactics, and paradigmatic relation. This suggests 0000E080 functions as a grammatical-formalism attractor — a hex region where UHT absorbs the structural machinery of language without distinguishing its subcategories.

Evidence

Nine new entities classified as follows: polysemy 0000A080, agglutination 0000F080, ergative 0000E080, syncretism 00002080, topicalization 0080E080, evidentiality 0000E080, cliticization 00002200, suppletion 00002000, vowel harmony 00202000. The 0000E080 cluster contains 18 entities total. Polysemy landed at 0000A080, identical to pragmatics and diglossia — 15 entities share that address. Agglutination at 0000F080 matches semantics and phonology exactly — 9 entities there. Suppletion at 00002000 is the sparsest classification, sharing its hex with Quantity, Astrophysics, and Geometric Shape — maximally abstract structural concepts from entirely different domains.

Interpretation

UHT appears to organize linguistics along two axes: a formalism axis (where grammatical categories converge regardless of function) and a process axis (where phonological and morphological processes spread more widely). The 0000E080 attractor captures “things that are rules about language structure” without caring whether the rule governs case, evidence-marking, or sound sequences. This is either a genuine insight — that these categories share deep structural DNA — or a resolution limitation where UHT’s 32-bit space lacks the discriminating traits to separate formal grammatical subcategories. The suppletion result is independently interesting: a morphological irregularity pattern classified alongside Quantity and Astrophysics suggests UHT reads suppletion as pure structural replacement, abstracted entirely from its linguistic context.

Action

Corpus-log entry COR-DOMAINEXPANSIONS-031 records all nine entities with cross-domain observations. Baseline BL-UHTRESEARCH-061 created. The 0000E080 attractor warrants a dedicated calibration hypothesis: does the cluster represent genuine structural similarity, or does adding a grammatical-subtype trait separate the entities meaningfully? A future CALIBRATION session should test whether reclassifying these entities with more specific context strings (e.g., “case-marking system” vs. “evidential morphology”) breaks the convergence. The suppletion-Astrophysics connection at 00002000 could seed a cross-domain application test.
